Self Certification Mortgage Applications Rise
Here’s An Opinion On: Montara Wealth By Michael Sterios The attractiveness of self-certification mortgage products is boosting the overall number of home loan applications in the UK. For true self-cert products, the applicant does not need to fully prove their income by way of documentary evidence such as pay slips and tax records. Rather, applicants will make a declaration of income to the lender based on their past earnings and expected future income. Self-certification mortgage products are growing in popularity as more people receive income in variable patterns and through non-standard forms such as bonuses and commissions. Originally self-cert home loans were designed for the self-employed. The changing composition of the workforces has, however, meant that many employees cannot fully prove their employment income as well. Not having to fully prove income is believed by some analysts to increase the risk of over borrowing and therefore repossession. However, provided the…
Government shuts off water to California farms in controversial effort to help threatened species
Thursday, August 13, 2009 A farming town in California claims that it may disappear due to the United States federal government shutting off water pumps, though the government states the actions are necessary to save several marine species. In July 2009, action by the Federal Bureau of Reclamation to protect threatened fish stopped irrigation pumping to parts of the California Central Valley causing canals leading into Huron, California and the surrounding areas and the farms that rely on them to lose their primary irrigation source. Unemployment has reached 40% in some areas as the farms have dried up. California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger stated the action is putting the fish “above the needs of millions of Californians.” Highlighting the city’s plight, Huron Police Chief Frank Steenport stated, “A year from now, [Huron] may not be here.” In an interview in Huron on Tuesday, comedian Paul Rodriguez, whose mother owns a farm…
Ross on Wye Friends win gold for garden
Friday, July 22, 2005 The weather forecast on Wednesday 27th July was poor which was unfortunate for Ross-on-Wye citizens, many of whom were dressed in historical costumes to greet the judges for the Heart of England in Bloom visit. Friends faithfully turned up – women in their Quaker grey and white bonnets, and the Meeting House and burial ground were a hive of activity throughout the day. We welcomed Nelson and his lady, the Town Crier and John Kyrle, a well-known local benefactor from the 16th century as well as representatives from the Elizabethan, Victorian and Edwardian times right up to the world war two era. After some initial hesitation, our children entered into the fun of the day and looked very sweet in their Quaker costumes which they refused to take off at the end of the day. Four short periods of Worship were held throughout the day and…

Which Wood Chips For Your Bbq Smoker?}
Here’s An Opinion On: Kamado Barbecues Submitted by: Barbecue Smoker Recipe Man Ive seen many lists about wood chips and what meats best accompany them and its always struck me that this is approaching the problem for the wrong side. The wood chip is choosing the food and in my book it should be the food choosing the wood chip! So when you scroll down to view my list its written in a way that hopefully will allow you to decide on your barbecue recipes first and let the flavouring follow. To be honest, hickory takes a lot of beating (especially on ribs) but theres an incredible variety of wood chips to choose from these days so its worth experimenting a little. The idea behind smoking is that wood burns when heated but by reducing the oxygen available to the fire, the wood smokes rather than burns so by adding…
New Ghanaian currency introduced
Tuesday, July 3, 2007 New currency notes are being introduced in Ghana today. The new currency, to be called the Ghanaian cedi, replaces the previous cedi which has been in circulation since 17 February, 1967. The Ghanaian cedi will be exchanged at 10,000 old cedis to one new Ghanaian cedi. The exchange rate against the U.S. dollar starts at GH¢0.92 to one U.S. dollar. The new ISO code for the currency is GHS, and the new symbol, GH¢. The change, which was originally scheduled by the Bank of Ghana to start on July 1, 2007, will instead start on Tuesday July 3, as the original date is Ghana’s Republic Day. Monday, July 2, was declared a public holiday as the actual Republic Day fell on a Sunday. July 3, is thus the first day that the currency will be available to the public as banks open to the general public.…
City of Calgary, Canada removes fluoride from drinking water
Thursday, February 10, 2011 Calgary city council voted 10 to 3 on Wednesday to stop fluoridating their water supply. This overturns a previous plebiscite from 1989 to add the fluoride in an attempt to reduce tooth decay. Opponents of water fluoridation claim that there could be unknown health effects of fluoride, and question its effectiveness in preventing tooth decay. They also claim that individuals should be able to decide for themselves whether or not to use fluoride. However, Alberta Health Services maintains that current evidence shows that fluoride is both safe, and beneficial to dental health. It is estimated that no longer fluoridating the water supply could save Calgary’s city council C$750 thousand (€550 thousand) annually, as well as cutting a C$6 million (€4.3 million) upgrade to the fluoridation system. The Most Innovative Concrete Mixers}
Here’s An Opinion On: Rent Used Forklift Sydney The Most Innovative Concrete Mixers by Paul T Henry The various types of cement mixer that are nowadays available in the market place have fulfilled the demands so far. These varieties of concrete aggregators have their own unique aspects and have varied functionality and use as well. With the passage of time there are more versatile and advanced varieties of such mixers available. But the requirement of workers during construction determines which type of concrete aggregator should be preferred. There are three main types of concrete mixers. These include the two shaft aggregators, the drum mixers and the vertical mixers. The two shaft mixer are utilized when the constructors require high quality of cement and in less time. On the other hand the vertical concrete aggregators are required when the builders are working with colored concrete or when they need small…
Denunciations of Scandals Threaten UN
Tuesday, April 19, 2005 Denunciations of corruption, bribe, collection of bribes from refugees [1] and of sexual scandal involving the peacekeepers [2], [3] threaten the Organization of the United Nations (UN). The gravest denunciations involve the aid project to Iraq, called Oil-for-Food. Grave denunciations of bribe exist, superfluous accounting and collaboration with the ex-dictator Saddam Hussein, against staff of the UN, companies and politicians of several countries. Even the secretary of the UN, Kofi Annan was suspicious of participation in the plan of corruption. And also grave doubts still hover about his son, Kojo Annan. The gravity of the denunciations threatens not only the credibility of the UN, but its existence. Secretary Kofi Annan said that he is going to promote reforms in the organization. Greek demonstrators protest austerity measures
Wednesday, May 5, 2010 Protestors in Greece, rallying against austerity measures, have clashed with police in the capital of Athens. Some people participating in the rally — attended by thousands of teachers and students — threw stones at riot police, who responded by employing pepper spray, although the BBC described the protests as being generally peaceful. Demonstrators say that a recent austerity proposal, which is to include pension cuts and an increase in taxes, will adversely affect the education sector. Teachers, along with hospital workers and public servants, have started a two-day strike over the measures. Also present were 150 members of the armed forces, who protested having their bonuses lowered. Meanwhile, earlier on Tuesday, approximately a hundred demonstrators with the Communist Party broke through locks at the Acropolis and hung up banners saying: “Peoples of Europe — Rise Up”. Communist Member of Parliament Nikos Papaconstantinou commented: “We want to…
